ClimAd Bangladesh · About Us

Vision & Mission

The north star that guides every programme we design, every community we enter, and every policy we advocate for.

Our Vision
"A resilient and inclusive Bangladesh where communities can adapt, thrive, and live with dignity."

This is the future we are working toward — a Bangladesh where no community is left behind by climate change, and every person has the capacity to build a stable and dignified life regardless of what the environment throws at them.

Our Mission
"To strengthen climate resilience, improve livelihoods, and promote social inclusion through community-driven and evidence-based interventions."

We realise this mission by placing local communities at the centre of every decision — from needs assessment and design through to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

How we get there

Three Strategic Pillars

Our vision and mission rest on three interconnected pillars that shape everything we do.

Climate Resilience

Building the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities — reducing their exposure to climate shocks and helping them bounce back stronger when disasters strike.

  • Flood risk reduction
  • Early warning systems
  • Ecosystem restoration
  • Community DRR planning

Sustainable Livelihoods

Ensuring that resilience has an economic foundation — helping families diversify income, adopt climate-smart agriculture, and access markets that reward sustainable practice.

  • Climate-smart farming
  • Alternative income sources
  • Market linkages
  • Skill-building programmes

Social Inclusion

Making certain that climate action reaches the people who need it most — women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalised groups who are often excluded from mainstream interventions.

  • Gender-responsive design
  • Youth empowerment
  • Rights-based approach
  • Governance & accountability

What guides us

Core Objectives

Five commitments that translate our vision into concrete, measurable action on the ground.

01

Implement climate adaptation projects

Deliver practical, community-led adaptation interventions in the most climate-vulnerable regions of Bangladesh — from coastal char lands to flood-prone haor areas.

02

Raise awareness and educate

Build climate literacy at the household level so communities understand the risks they face and the actions available to them.

03

Promote sustainable practices

Advance climate-smart agriculture, responsible water management, and access to clean energy as the everyday norm for rural and peri-urban communities.

04

Advocate for climate-conscious policy

Translate grassroots evidence into policy recommendations — ensuring local realities shape national and international climate commitments.

05

Collaborate to maximise impact

Work in partnership with government, research institutions, NGOs, and international organisations — sharing data, resources, and learning so no effort is duplicated.

What we stand for

Core Values

These five values are not words on a wall — they are the criteria against which we judge every decision we make.

Accountability

We hold ourselves answerable to the communities we serve, our donors, and our government partners. Annual reports, community feedback loops, and independent evaluations keep us honest.

Transparency

Our finances, decision-making processes, and programme results are open and accessible to all stakeholders — no hidden agendas, no closed doors.

Inclusion

We design for the most marginalised first. If a programme does not reach women, persons with disabilities, and minority communities, it is not yet finished.

Sustainability

We invest in solutions that outlast our presence. Community ownership, local capacity, and environmental stewardship are built into every intervention from day one.

Community Participation

Communities are not beneficiaries of our work — they are co-designers, co-implementers, and co-evaluators. Their knowledge and agency are the foundation of everything.

Our Commitments

What we promise to every community we work with

01

We will listen before we act — your knowledge of your own context comes first.

02

We will measure what matters — outcomes for people, not just outputs on paper.

03

We will stay after the project ends — building capacity that survives our departure.

04

We will speak up — advocating for your rights even when it is inconvenient.

05

We will be honest — sharing what worked, what did not, and what we learned.

06

We will never compromise your dignity — treating every community member with respect.
