Green Bangladesh Plantation Initiative
Green Bangladesh Plantation Initiative
Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate change, environmental degradation, and biodiversity loss. To address these challenges, ClimAd Bangladesh proposes the "Green Bangladesh Plantation Initiative" to plant and nurture native and climate-resilient trees across schools, community spaces, riverbanks, and degraded lands.
Goal
To enhance environmental sustainability, improve local biodiversity, and contribute to climate change mitigation through community-based tree plantation and stewardship.
Objectives
- Plant 10,000 native and fruit-bearing trees in selected communities.
- Increase community awareness on environmental conservation and climate resilience.
- Engage youth, schools, and local stakeholders in plantation and tree maintenance activities.
- Improve local ecosystems and contribute to carbon sequestration.
Key Activities
- Site selection and baseline assessment.
- Procurement of quality seedlings.
- Community mobilization and awareness campaigns.
- Tree plantation events involving local volunteers and students.
- Regular monitoring and maintenance of planted trees.
- Survival rate assessment and reporting.
Expected Outcomes
- 10,000 trees planted with at least 80% survival rate.
- Increased community participation in environmental conservation.
- Improved green cover and biodiversity in project areas.
- Enhanced climate resilience and carbon absorption capacity.
